Long time, no post!
In the last 2 years, I have done a lot of growing and so have they and it is time to get rid of the weight. Starting tomorrow, I will be following the Zone and the Advocare 24 day challenge. We have family pictures in August and I want to knock them out of the water and be proud of them.
I am currently working out an hour or so 5-6 days a week and will start in earnest with the clean diet. There is some accountability as I am doing this as part of a challenge. I even took before pictures - although I won't be sharing them until I get closer to goal at 160.
First goal is to be under 200 by end of July and then a 8-10 pound weight loss each month until I get to 160 and my purple dress.
One day at a time is how the weight came on and how it will come off. See you soon for another update!

20 lbs in 20 wks
I follow Ash's blog. She has an inspiring tale and only has a few more pounds to lose before hitting triple digit weight loss. I decided to start with her on her challenge. So far, there are 141 of us that signed up. Want to loose some weight? Come on, join us!
Today, due to little ol Aunt Flo being here, I am up to 189. YUCK! Yesterday on the first official weigh in day it was 191. EVEN sadder. Why? Because at my doctors office, the gym and even home earlier this week it was 186. The whole losing weight thing will also help as we continue on our journey to get a healthy pregnancy. More updates on that to come!
One of the things that Ash wants us to do is to calculate your BMR. That is what you burn just sitting on your butt. Well, I burn 1623 just to keep this mass here. on. earth. I am eating about 1250 a day so, that means, that I am not even eating/exercising enough to loose 1 measly pound a week. I would ideally like to loose 2 pounds a week. So, that means that I have to burn an additional 620 ish calories every.single.day.
See, for Lent this year, I was banned from giving up Fast Food by my son. He seems to have this fancy idea that Lent is an individual thing and that one should only give up something that will impact them and not others. He says that if I give up Fast Food then that precludes him from getting it since I wont even stop during Lent. Instead I gave up, being lazy. Lazy. Yes, you heard me. I went to the gym for 3 days the first week, 4 days the second and well, I am at 4 days this week although I need to get up to 5 days a week.
The hubby has been walking with me as well as the dogs. It is amazing how well the 4 legged children sleep at night/day when they have walked. This morning we did 5 miles. Wow. 5 miles!
The dogs they did 3. 1.5 miles to the track. Rest while Mom and Dad walked another 2 miles and then we all walked back home. Now, everyone but me is sleeping. Well, Tyler isn't sleeping because he is cleaning up his bathroom. Shudder. Boys.bathroom.shudder.
I double, dog, dare you to come on over and join Ash's is Fit 20 in 20 weeks.

44 minutes....
Ali- Come on Mom... it is about to start, or wait, let me hit my brother, shoot there went the gun.
Me: Be good Ali, follow Dad
Ali - Yeah, how am I supposed to follow Dad when HELLO! You wont pick up your feet. Do you know how tiring it is to keep trying to pull your butt around?!?!
Me: Al i Slow down, Mom cant run that fast.
Ali - Got to make more muscles. Must. Pull. Harder.
And later in the race....
Ali - WOW - those cheerleaders are cheering for me, aren't I a lucky dog!!! If only my mother would get her butt in gear!
We finished slightly behind J and Ace. Tired. But happy.
Weigh in next week.... Stay tuned!

The Scale... why do you mock me?
I just wanted to let you know that I think it is cruel and unusual punishment to be off from my gym scale. 4 pounds makes a lot of difference! I have been eating better, no cokes and burning at least 500 calories a day through exercise. Is a 2lb loss too much to ask for? Could you at least be in the same arena as my scale at the gym. You know I am have tempted to go to the gym scale and bring you with me. Then you could try to be out of whack but it wouldn't work. HA!
Please be nicer to me next week.
Your adoring fan,
K
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I stepped on the scale this morning and I was the same weight as last week. Now could this be to my little visitor who is to arrive at any moment, could I be gaining muscle over fat or could my body just be being stubborn? Any or all of the above could be what it is doing. But alas, I will give it one more week and see if I see a little (come on, just a pound or two, please!!!) movement.
Signing off from the frustrated place of no scale movement.
The week in review
During the past week, I have
- Walked 6 out of 7 days
- Written down everything I have consumed good or bad
- Picked Ace up from the vet - he has a blood vessel ruptured in his ear
- Rode the bus 3 days
- Worked out at the Gym 1 day
It felt really good to be getting fresh air and working out. Ace as usual is my problem 4 legged child. He is doing good but is on a no exercise profile. Have you ever tried to tell a dog he couldn't play and run and go for a walk with his sister? He is not a happy camper when we leave for our 2 mile walk.
I told J last night that I am sure my enthusiasm for this whole working out thing will wane. When it does, I need him to be very supportive so that it becomes a habit. He agreed. I am sure he will make a great coach!
Now, the whole bus thing. Did you know it costs me $11.45 to drive to work each day? I am sure that we are all aware of the cost of gas but that is just outrageous! So, I took the bus 3 days which next week will help me get to the gym. So, I will ride the bus in, work out, go to work, ride home, go walking with T and then to bed.
Speaking of T, we went for a walk last night. He wants to be my trainer :) I said Sure! It was nice to walk with him last night, he talked about stuff that is going on at school and despite his belief that walks are boring without the dog, this stepmom enjoyed the time.
Now, I am off for my Sunday walk!
3 weeks
1 week down, 2 to go and then a weigh in!
This week, I have walked S-today and started using my heart rate monitor to monitor my caloric expenditures. Woo hoo. I feel soreness and aches and I am so tired from getting up so early. I look so forward to sleeeep.
228 205 184 166 149.59
228 is what the scale said yesterday. 149.59 (err 150) is what I would like it to say. I told J that my goal was a 10% reduction in body weight by the end of June. That roughly gives me 3 months to loose 23 pounds. I am sure that we are all on the eternal look out for the best diet out there. Well, in my search I found this great article . What is says really isnt that spectacular. Eat less or exercise more but choose one or both of those to create a calorie deficit. With said deficit will come weight loss. If I put my numbers out there, they are staggering so lets see the best way to slice and dice this.
Number of calories required to be burned or eliminated:
Goal weight - 273,000! 10% weight 98,000
Pounds lost per week: Goal Weight - 9 months 10% weight - 2.15 (June EOM)
Months at 10 lbs each: Goal Weight - 8 months 10% weight - 3
Workouts: 4-5 days a week for both. Gotta increase that deficit.
Exhaustion at night: All the time now and it is only day 3!
Support: That is where i am counting on all my friends, family and blog readers to chime on in and support me as I try to get my body back.
